Meet Bruce Edgell

Bruce Edgell has been recognized as one of the top producing loan officers in the country. Although it might appear that he was born for mortgage lending, the professional success he has enjoyed is something he never dreamt of as a boy growing over 3000 miles away from Secure One Capital offices

Younger Days

Born in Weirton, West Virginia, Bruce Edgell spent his youth as an active child who excelled at athletics. Upon graduating high school in 2008 he enrolled in West Virginia University. During his tenure, his coursework ranged from economics to advertising and communications. His ability to excel in a variety of classes served him well, earning his bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies.

Bruce’s entry into the mortgage industry was unplanned. He traveled out to California to visit friends and a chance meeting with Jim Pate, Chief Executive Officer of Secure One Capital, led to his eventual hiring.

Opportunity Knocks

Bruce’s entry into the mortgage industry was unplanned. A chance meeting with Jim Pate, Chief Executive Officer of Secure One Capital, open the door of opportunity and led to his eventual hiring.

In 2014, Bruce began his career in the call center at Secure One Capital. The entry-level role served as Bruce’s indoctrination into the mortgage industry. Applying the same energy, he showed as a youth athlete and the diligence required to graduate from the University of West Virginia, Bruce accelerated his education of the industry and excelled as the top call center representative in the company.

What I love most about working at Secure One Capital is the culture they have created. I have been given the tools and training to help hundreds of homeowners every year while taking care of my loved ones.

Early Struggles

Evident that he had found his calling, Bruce took the next step by becoming a licensed loan officer in 2016. Expecting the same success as he had in the call center, he instead found himself struggling to meet expectations. It took the unfortunate passing of his father that would provide Bruce with the perspective he had been lacking. Feeling a sense of duty, Bruce considered returning to West Virginia to help support his grieving mother.

Standing at the proverbial crossroads, Bruce weighed his options and believed the best way to support his mother back home would be to put himself in the position to alleviate the financial stress she faced after her husband had passed. In hindsight, it is easy to say that Bruce made the right choice. But making the right choice was not important to Bruce. He understood that whatever choice he made, he could not allow himself to fail.

Delivering On Promise

This personal motivation led to Bruce becoming an expert in various loan products which enabled him to find the right solution to every client’s unique needs. Faced with the responsibility to start leading his family, Bruce could relate to his client’s financial struggles from a perspective most early-career loan officers could never imagine.

Bruce’s approach resonated with his clients and, in turn, sparked his ascent to becoming the top producing loan officer he is today. Since those few dark days after his father’s passing, Bruce has been able to help support his family in West Virginia which he considers his greatest achievement to date.

Bruce’s story has inspired others and his performance has set the standard for other loan officers to emulate. His passion for Mortgage and his ability to advise clients with empathy is a hallmark of his success and also part of the ethos of Secure One Capital.
